The Joseph Initiative announces call for film submissions

August 16, 2017, Asheville, NC – Local Asheville filmmakers are invited to submit their short film to be considered for inclusion in an upcoming fundraiser for The Joseph Initiative.

The Joseph Initiative is a local non-profit that has been providing filmmaking classes to teens in our community. On September 14, 2017, the organization is holding a celebration of their work – A Red Carpet Event – at the Fine Arts Theatre in Asheville, NC. Premiered during the evening will be a documentary the teens worked on with Brother Blue Studios.

“We would like to include other short films, too,” says Anne Lazo, the non-profit’s marketing director. Lazo adds, “If you live or work in the Asheville area and have written, directed, and/or produced a short film, we invite you to submit it for consideration in our program for the event.” During the evening, attendees will also have the opportunity to see how The Joseph Initiative is working to provide life skills and enrichment programs that create brighter futures for Asheville-area teenagers.

The films should be no more than 10 minutes in length. The entry deadline is Monday, September 4, 2017. As films are submitted, the organization will highlight them on social media. The cost for film submission is $25. For rules and to submit your film (either by a streaming link or download), go to:
